Serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme that is produced in a lab, but was first discovered in nature in the intestines of silkworms to aid in their digestion. It has been used clinically in Asia and Europe for over 25 years and can be found in the United States as a health supplement.
Because serrapeptase is a proteolytic enzyme, its function in the human body is incredibly significant. Enzymes oversee all metabolic functions in your body. Proteolytic enzymes govern metabolic functions such as liver function and the immune system. The nutrients you get from your daily diet, such as proteins and vitamins, could not be accessed by your body without theses enzymes.
